Juan-Les-Pins or Paris?

I have the album Blow Up that it's supposed was recorded at Juan-Les-Pins in july 25, 1969. JMY 1005

I also have the same band playing in Hamburg 1969.

pretty sure this is different material. i've got the hamburg concert, blow up, plus some cuts from a concert in sweden around the same time.

corvimax said...

really good. is it stanley cowell on piano?

Greg said...

Hutcherson / cowell / chambers / land and johnson at a guess?

Btw: Lucinda must have been busy on another job as that cover is way too cool... hic!

the sweden stuff is just as good.

hello katonah
some uncertainty about when and where and a lazy day too put me to some research, I think I found it here
http://www.jazzdiscography.com/Leaders/LandHarold-ldr.php
and here
http://www.geocities.com/bobbyhutchersonjazz/news.htm
not of much importance, the music counts
and thanks

list:
Spiral
Blow Up

katonahs was recorded on the day after 26th hence the rarity. having said that blow out is difficult to find too: http://www.musicweb-international.com/jazz/Hutcherson/Rec_BH_HaroldLand_Blow%20Up.htm

hope that clears it up?

cheers

speaking of Antibes, does anyone know this Pharoah Sanders one ?

katonah said...

yeah, i pulled that from another blogspot a little while back simon.
not really the best person to ask whether it's any good, pharoah sanders could do no wrong in my book.
mind you, i still think it's awesome

Greg said...

yeah I have it too and I'm with you katonah pharoah rules.

I also picked up a live one last summer from 1978 (montreaux i think) with Norman Connors: beyond a dream which is out of this world -- do you know it?

Casino latino is a 15 min killer as is Connors piano solo build up to it. Anyway if not I'll whack you up a copy this weekend. Let me know?

katonah said...

yeah, i got that one off the net again from somewhere.

it's another stormer, just having another listen right now

Greg said...

mailed you :)

Hi Katonah. Is there anyway that you could make this concert available again? The thing is that I have the july 25th set and I would like to appreciate the concert as a whole, completing with this one. Thank you for the Blow Up date by the way.

Regards.
