  3. Great looking session..The presence of Kenny Cox puts me in mind of The Contemporary Jazz Quintet out of Detroit (in which he featured)..They cut a session for Strata in '73 or thereabouts which had an original posting I think over at El Reza or myjazzworld..I missed that post..Any leads on that one Katonah? Meantime many thanks for this one.

  5. Kenny Cox put out a couple of rather tasty albums on Blue Note as well, both were later re-released on Cd a year or 2 ago.

  9. I bought this one still sealed. Think it must have been a bad pressing, the needle seems to be cleaning out the grooves every play though.

  11. Hey Katonah, Yea those Blue Note re-issues were the one's that really got me started on a Contemporary Jazz Quintet listening spree..So this present posted session got my interest..Mo-Town clearly had a lot going on musically in this period..And being on the Strata label reminded me of that other C J Q'73 session..Dosen't seem to be anything left at El Reaza other than the session details..Shame that I missed it cos it looks like the 60's acoustic group had moved in a more 70's electric direction..Would be interesting to hear it.

  15. Gotta say that most of the stuff that you post is just "out there", amazing. Stuff I've never seen or heard of in many cases and then when I listen to it I feel honoured that people like you enlighten us mere mortals.

  18. I am so grateful that you have shared so many amazing albums over the life of your blog. I usually d/l an album and head over to the bay to check availability but am quickly discouraged. thanks for providing a stopgap until I can purchase it. Cheers!

  19. Great stuff, not only do I find great music. I also have a couple of my favourite bloggers into single malt. Ardbeg is serious stuff and generally been a Aberlour and Talisker type.
