ReplyDeleteNice, pleasant groove. Good summer afternoon music, Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHey Katonah,
ReplyDeleteWhen listening to Jef Lee Johnson's "The Singularity" I had a bit of an epiphany that it reminds me of Lewis Taylor's "Whoever" ep.
Check it out, I'm curious what you think.

Long been wondering what this album sounds like, thanks for the recomendation!!
ReplyDeleteApologies:
ReplyDeleteTrack title is Between Thoughts.
Btw @ Art Simon.
ReplyDeleteI had a direct request from Lewis Taylor to remove his material from here.
Not sure thats our "Ron" Simon !!!
ReplyDeleteFrom the picture on the back, Ron appears to be a white guy with an early eighties jazz beard
Just hitting Jef Lee Johnson Art. Very similar To Lewis taylor, bit more "rocky" maybe.
ReplyDelete@ Hoochie; thanks for the feedback, the whole thing is a joy
Nice track. It has a commercial
ReplyDeleteflavor without "swinging heavily
towards the discofunk dollar".
(Simon's great phrase).
More artistically successful than most. Ironic that its so obscure.
thanks!
@ katonah - strange, the text under the article about Ron in that newsletter has " ...and recorded a jazz album with his former band Quintessence". Hmmm... the Two Ronnies ??
ReplyDeleteJust waking up and listening again, such a nice track, thanks again :)
Great track, now, how do I get to hear the rest of the album??? Some more info here
ReplyDeleteSorry Simon, i should have read all the way thru the article. What a wally, thanks for the info as well.
ReplyDelete;)
Wonder who the guy is on the back cover then ... ?
ReplyDeleteBummer about the Lewis Taylor, I'd have never come across him if were not for this blog. Thanks Katonah, Love the music!

ReplyDelete$394! Ouch...
ReplyDeleteJust noticed you added the back cover, thanks. Can see the source of the confusion about Ron's identity : although he's at the centre, he's a bit behind the others, unusual for a leader :)
ReplyDeleteExcellent,thanks
ReplyDeleteKatonah,
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog. How did you hear this recording? I am amazed people are listening to my music. Ron Ancrum

ReplyDeleteHey Ron,
ReplyDeleteKatonah only posted the title track. If you ever want to make the album available again I'd love to get a copy.
Hey Art,
ReplyDeleteYou can get a copy from the same guy in NYC, Rarebro Records. He has it liosted on his website.
Katonah,
ReplyDeleteI found a couple of photos. How can I get them to you?
Ron
Hi Ron
ReplyDeleteThat sounds really cool.
Could you compress them into a zip file, then upload that file to a free cloud site, like Mediafire. Once it's uploaded to the cloud, a link will pop up.
Then just copy and paste that link into a comment here.
Once there here i'd love to post them here as special if that's fine with you.
Failing we'll sort a way of sharing e-mail if that's easier.
Katonah,
