Wynton Marsalis' First Recordings

Wynton Marsalis' First Recordings
Recorded live at Bubba's Jazz Resturant, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, 11th October 1980.

Had a little look around on the worldwideweb, to see if this had been posted and it seems to have been missed. Fairly "safe" session from this top line-up, with Wheel within a Wheel being the stand out track. It's here that Art Blakey shines. Mind you, everybody throws in a great performance and Wynton shows off his highly technical skills.
Wynton Marsalis; Trumpet
Art Blakey; Drums
Jimmy Williams; Piano
Ellis Marsalis; Piano
Charles Fambrough; Bass
Billy Pierce; Saxophone
Enjoy.

  2. This has been re named and repackaged so many times I can't count that high . It is also titled live at Bubba's and there is various versions out of Europe . This is becoming common with alot of jazz albums as they slip under the radar when it comes to re registering for copyright and publishing rights . Especially early Coltrane and Miles Davis . All this said if you do like Wynton Marsalis this is a nice listen , Art Blakey was always consistent . If you want more Art Blakey go to any genre goes . http://anythinggoes-jazzme.blogspot.com/ . I have posted alot of hard to find Blakey and there is more coming . JAzzme

  3. ¡Hola!

Thank you very much. In this moments I am reading a book co-written by W.M. It is full of M'opinions, explanations... ¡Uf!, too much for me. I like a lot the old Nola jazz with its grid of melodies. So I am very interested in taking a little (or big) time and listening to M' first recording sessions.
