The Lightmen plus One

The Lightmen plus One.

Fancy Pants, Recorded 5th September and 10th October 1971.
Judnell 1002.

Another banging album from the Lightmen plus One. The "plus One" turns out to be Marsha Frazier on electric piano and flute. Apparently Marsha's inclusion brought the group more together, with less freer individual solos as found on their 1st album "Free as you wanna be". (would love to hear this one if anybody has a copy)

Have a listen to Sorrow, Bitterness and Revolution (now he's Gone)

  6. Dear Katonah,

There seems to be some confusion about the Strata East M'Boom LP. But from what I can find out, I think this is what you are looking for. I also have the 1979 self-titled LP and this isn't that:

thanks for all your efforts, it looks like you've been trying really hard to help out.

The 2 track m'boom lp is on baystate which i've already got on vinyl. (nice!)

There is another, much rarer strata east lp which has approx 7/8 tracks on there. The rarity came about due to Max Roach apparently disliking the final result and ordering the majority of the albums to be destroyed.

Check out the link for more info at ish's Strata east fan club.

  13. Katonah,

I realise this is a bit late, but I have MP3s of Free As You Wanna Be transferred from my vinyl copy. Fancy Pants is the only album I haven't heard! The Bubbha Thomas stuff is so good, I recently saw another single he put out around the same time on the Lightin' label called Brougham, it's priced at around $800, ever heard it? I may have the M'Boom album too.

    Peace,
    Erik

  14. HI Eric, the M'boom has just been released on the Think label form Japan, together with a re-release of the Billy Parker Fourth World lp. (both on order!) Will post the Brougham track, it was comp'd by Gilles Peterson. The Fancy pants lp is a total stormer, and just sold for sold on ebay for $388 in think ,wow
