MCC-659.

Recorded 19th April 1989 at the F.D Hall Music Center, Recital Hall, Jackson Uni, Mississippi.

2 storming big band covers of Milestones and Naima. Lumark Gulley (drums) must surely have graduated with honours following his contribution to Milestones. Watch for goosebumps ... Fierce.

  5. Lumark Gulley, a native of Mobile, Alabama was a close personal friend who died far too young, of pneumonia. He wrote a number of great original compositions, and fortunately recorded an album called "Printilla" on the Continuum Records label out of Baton Rouge, which was once fairly easy to obtain. He also is playing drums on several albums by Atlanta saxophonist Darryl Reeves, and on at least one Quamon Fowler record. My favorite memory of him is him playing with Texas pianist Fred Sanders at Snug Harbor in New Orleans.
